Ohio Beekeeping Supplies

Nestled within the Great Lakes region, Ohio is a Midwestern state with everything from the beaches of Lake Erie, the banks of the Ohio River, the Appalachian Mountains, and large cities including Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Columbus as well as the world’s largest Amish commune. Renowned art collections can be found at the Cleveland Museum of Art and for an outdoor adventure, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is also in Cleveland. Known as the “Buckeye State” after its Ohio buckeye trees, Ohio has a rich history dating back to the Civil War. With its central location, the Ohio River and the railroads became an important pathway for troop and supply movements. Ohio’s industry also made the state one of the most vital states in the union during the Civil war. It is no wonder then that the business of beekeeping has been growing in Ohio since the early 1900s. We are passionate about supplying packaged bees for sale and beekeeping supplies for the beehive, regardless of whether it’s for a hobby in your own yard or commercial beekeeping.

Mountain Sweet Honey Company provides our customers with the best honey bees, beekeeping supplies, and high-quality customer service. Our apiaries are in the breathtaking northeast Georgia mountains, and we ship bees weekly from mid-March to May. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an experienced beekeeper or just getting started because we have all the beekeeping supplies you will ever need.

  1. Know the Law
  2. Study the Experts
  3. Talk to the Neighbors
  4. Purchase the Proper Gear
  5. Situate the Hive
  6. Buy Your Bees
  7. Provide Good Bee Care

When starting a beehive, the spring is ideal time. As soon as the weather begins to warm up and flowers start to bloom, you can set up your hive. Plan well and get your bees into the hive as soon as possible to allow them the time to gather as much nectar as possible through the next few months.

All beekeepers must register their hives with the state of Ohio. Beekeepers in the city of Cleveland must apply for a free two-year license through the Department of Public Health. Annual apiary registration is required for all active apiaries in Ohio, both permanent and temporary, both commercial and hobbyist.
