Illinois Beekeeping Supplies

Illinois Beekeeping Supplies Nicknamed “the Prairie State,” Illinois’s landscape is diverse, with its vast farmlands, lush forests, and wetlands. Only here will you discover the historic Land of Lincoln and the site of an ancient Native American city at Cahokia Mounds. Aside from that, one of the largest cities in the nation can be found in the northeast on Lake Michigan’s shores. Chicago is most known for its 1,451-ft. Willis Tower and the neo-Gothic Tribune Tower as well the Navy Pier. It is not at all surprising that as Illinois continues to thrive so too does the business of beekeeping. Since the early 1900’s, beekeeping has been a business that has continued to grow in the State of Illinois where we proudly support beekeepers by supplying package bees for sale, along with beekeeping supplies for the beehive for hobbyists and commercial beekeepers alike.

Mountain Sweet Honey Company is dedicated to serving customers with superior honey bees, beekeeping supplies and excellent customer service. Our apiaries are located in the awe-inspiring mountains of northeast Georgia, and we ship bees on a weekly basis from mid-March to May. Whether you’re a longtime beekeeper or just getting started, we have all the beekeeping supplies you will need.

FAQ

To become a beekeeper, it requires them to register their colonies (one or more) with the IDOA. Registration can be done by completing the fillable form accessible on the Apiary webpage, signing the form, and mailing it to the Illinois Department of Agriculture. A registration certificate (including a registration number) is provided to beekeepers who register with the IDOA.

Bees and Apiaries Act act requires beekeepers to register their colonies with the state.  There is no cost of registration.  The registration is used to keep track of the number of beehives in the state and each county.  It also allows each inspector for each district to know where the colonies are in his or her area so they can easily respond to disease-related issues.
