We started selling honey bees and a few beekeeping items in our second year of business and we now ship honeybees across the U.S. and offer a full line of beekeeping supplies. Our focus has always been to provide chemical-free bees, and that remains the same.

We strongly believe in our purpose, which is to offer high-quality bees and beekeeping supplies, offer knowledgeable advice to beekeepers, and to always execute our orders with outstanding customer service.

In 2017, Mountain Sweet Honey Company became the #1 shipper of honey bees in the mid-west. Our growth over the years is largely due to loyal repeat customers, our understanding the logistics of shipping honey bees, and the dedicated employees who helped make this growth possible.

FAQ

To become a beekeeper, it requires them to register their colonies (one or more) with the IDOA. Registration can be done by completing the fillable form accessible on the Apiary webpage, signing the form, and mailing it to the Illinois Department of Agriculture. A registration certificate (including a registration number) is provided to beekeepers who register with the IDOA.

Bees and Apiaries Act act requires beekeepers to register their colonies with the state.  There is no cost of registration.  The registration is used to keep track of the number of beehives in the state and each county.  It also allows each inspector for each district to know where the colonies are in his or her area so they can easily respond to disease-related issues.
