What Color Should I Paint My Hive?

An important part of your beekeeping supplies is to have adequate supply of paint.  Painting your bee hive is an important part of making sure the hive is sealed from the elements.  Painting your hive the wrong color will result in your hive being an oven for your honey bees.

We highly recommend using exterior latex paint.  You should apply three coats to the surface of the hive.  You will want to choose colors that are pastel.  If you use dark colors, those dark colors will warm the hive and even create an oven if you use colors like “black”.
